Valamar Lacroma Dubrovnik Hotel offers all the luxury of a sophisticated resort within a stone’s throw of a stunning and historic city.

Spa review: Valamar Lacroma Hotel

Dubrovnik, situated in the south of Croatia over looking the Adriatic Sea, has seen a surge in popularity over the last few years and it’s easy to see why. The idyllic walled Old Town (now a UNESCO world heritage site) is one of the most popular parts of the city and it’s preserved architecture, sunning views and fascinating history offer a real escape for the mind and body. It boasts a wealth of independent eateries and wine bars, and as Croatia has a strong history of wine making it’s worth sampling some of the local tipples.

Where to stay

Located on the tranquil Babin Kuk peninsula the Valamar Lacroma Dubrovnik Hotel offers a great contrast from the hustle and bustle of a day’s sight seeing. The hotel has been built with its stunning views in mind with all the rooms, the outdoor pool and the massive sun terrace offering panoramic sea views. On my first morning I saw someone doing morning yoga on the sun terrace, and couldn’t think of a better backdrop to a morning workout, so it’s well worth taking your kit.

The Valamar Lacroma Dubrovnik Hotel boasts two restaurants offering something for every taste. The Show Cooking restaurant is a buffet style restaurant where diners are spoilt for choice. Many of the dishes are made to order for you so you can guarantee freshness and tailor them to your taste. Options range from local cuisine to more traditional breakfast offerings, and there are lots of healthy options that are just as indulgent and varied as the rest of the buffet. It’s worth also booking an evening at the gourmet Langusto restaurant. From the moment you step through the door the passion of the chefs and waiting staff is evident, and the scallops were the best I’ve ever tasted.

A trip to the Ragusa Spa Wellness Centre is a must. I was particularly excited to find an infrared sauna, which I’d really recommend. It works by using light and heat to relax and detoxify the body, which works for me as they offer real relaxation without the intense heat of the usual sauna. There is also an indoor pool and extensive treatment list, making this a great place to combine a busy city break with a wonderful place to relax.
