I get up at 5am to do Heart Breakfast, and I get ready in 20 minutes. I sleep in my lashes – I know that’s grim – and I have all my make-up set out, so I literally use the Charlotte Tilbury Healthy Glow mixed with a bit of Guerlain foundation, a Too Faced eyebrow pencil, a lot of Charlotte Tilbury bronzer, and some Sculpted by Aimee cream blush, lipstick and liner.
I have my outfit laid out and leave my shoes at the door, so I don’t mess around, then take the dogs out for a quick wee and just leave. Super quick!
I don’t have time for a 12-step skincare programme. And even if I did, I couldn’t be arsed! I use anything that comes to hand; a bit of Eve Lom, a muslin cloth, wet wipes… I do, however, have some Korean skincare products after meeting two amazing influencers backstage at Britain’s Got Talent. Their skin was delicious, and I was like: ‘What are you doing?’
So now I have a Korean oil cleanser and a moisturiser, and I also have a Sienna X spray tan weekly. That’s a fairly recent thing for me, but I just think everyone looks a bit better with a glow, especially as your skin starts to get older.
I’ve been taking Revive Collagen for five years. And, for me, I’ve noticed such a difference in my hair and skin. I don’t have any hair extensions, and my nails are also mine; they’re filthy, but they’re mine!
Revive Collagen Enhanced Plus is also brilliant for energy because it has lots of vitamins, including B6 and B12, as well as retinol, which is the ingredient everyone talks about when it comes to targeting fine lines and wrinkles.
I’d definitely want it if I was stuck on a desert island and there wasn’t much food because it would give me all the vitamins I needed and, obviously, I’d look fabulously rejuvenated!

I have a lot of non-invasive treatments. I do everything through [celebrity skin guru] Nilam Holmes, and while she does everything and everyone now, I’ve been with her for years, she’s brilliant.
I started out with Collagenwave facials – I talked non-stop about them and then everyone went and had them too. I will do anything that’s the latest thing, and I’m all about tightening and lifting. So, I do a bit of EMFACE, and I recently had a bit of lasering on my neck. But I do think I’m a bit lucky genetically because my grandmother was very old when she passed, and my mum is very young and youthful for 75 years old.
I think I’m healthy by default because I’ve been vegetarian since I was 13. I just don’t like meat, but I occasionally eat fish if there’s no other protein available. My eldest daughter is veggie, but the younger one isn’t, so I cook different meals and I don’t mind handling or cooking meat. We try to go organic as far as we can when it comes to meat and veg, and I eat loads of tofu, soy and eggs.
I don’t drink milk because I personally can’t bear the taste, so I’ll have almond or soy milk with coffee. I also drink stacks of water, but I do like a glass of rosé or an Aperol spritz!
I can’t stand restrictions and rules. When it comes to my food philosophy I say, have whatever you fancy when you want it. If you need to be good for your health, good luck. I get it. But I couldn’t deny myself anything, so I do everything in moderation.
I do intermittent fasting by default because I always have tea at 5pm and I’m up at 5am, but I won’t have my breakfast till 9am because I’m doing Heart Breakfast. So, when intermittent fasting came out as a thing, I was like, ‘Oh, I’m doing that already for 15 hours maybe’. So, I’m doing something right! (Find our our weight-loss columnist Alice Dogruyol’s thoughts on whether intermittent fasting can help you lose weight safely here!)

I do Peloton at least three times a week at full pelt. It’s brilliant, fast-moving, and you can lift weights at the same time (they’re tone-up weights rather than building-up-your-guns weights). I actually look forward to getting on my bike, because it only lasts half an hour.
If it was any longer, I think I’d find it boring. I’ve had some incredible PTs in the past, but I also think it’s my space for my head, so I don’t want to be told what to do or shouted at.
I did the London marathon years ago and I love running. But I’m not sure I’d do another as I just don’t know if I would beat my time. I did it in just over four hours, and I was thrilled with that.
My mum did it at the same time as me in just over five, and it was honestly one of the best days of my life. The buzz was amazing. The crowds were phenomenal. I did a half marathon recently, but if I did another marathon, I think I’d go to New York or somewhere like that.
To relax, I’ll have a bath and a big fat glass of wine in it. By that, I mean I’d drink wine in the bath, of course, not bathe in wine. Although I’d happily jump in a vat of wine!
When a fly dies in a glass of wine, I always think that’s how I’d like to go! But yes, I tend not to relax, really. I have a Thai massage maybe every other week, and I have amazing monthly facials with a very holistic woman called Charlotte Habibi. She’s a brilliant woman who was a dancer, and she does quite hypnotic, mindful, all-organic facials that are just gorgeous. I love her. Go and have a facial with her and you’ll come out zonked!

I love going on holiday and doing anything with my kids. I get the family together whenever I have any downtime, and that’s my favourite thing to do because it’s difficult to get everyone in the same place at once, especially because they’re all doing their own stuff now.
In the winter, when I get my eldest home from university, it’ll be Sunday lunches and dog walks when I can actually force them out, because no one wants to walk apart from me and the two dogs, and that brings me lots of joy. We’ve got beautiful woods really close to where we live, and we’ll have three dogs soon – I’m going to rescue another one in September, much to my husband’s dismay!
To anyone born in the ’70s, I say we’re rebellious and dismissive. That generation of women don’t understand the conventional rules [of midlife] and we don’t need to have any.
I just don’t get why anyone would say they’re going to stop dyeing their hair or start wearing a midi-length frock – that’s just two sentences I’ll never say! But I’m very supportive of anybody who is in those spaces. Each to their own!
