Can a Caribbean escape genuinely improve your sleep, strength and wellbeing? Writer Mars Webb visits BodyHoliday St Lucia to discover how yoga, spa treatments and restorative movement can help us all feel well again.

What if a Caribbean holiday could genuinely improve your fitness, your strength and your sleep, without sacrificing great food, sunshine and a cocktail at sunset?
That was exactly what I was looking for when five of us booked a week at BodyHoliday in St Lucia.
I love yoga, but I am not someone who wants a week of silence or strict schedules. I wanted something more relaxed, a mix of movement, sunshine, good food and time with friends.
It ended up being one of those trips you keep thinking about long after you are home.
Finding your rhythm
Set on Cariblue Beach on the island’s northwestern tip, BodyHoliday gets the balance right. The resort is a really good size, with plenty to do, but it never feels overwhelming. You quickly find your way around and fall into your own rhythm.
Each day, a schedule is shared in advance, so you can pick and choose what suits you. It works particularly well for groups, as everyone can shape their day differently and still come back together later.
The staff and activities team bring a real sense of energy and ease. Darren and Dino made the aqua sessions genuinely fun, while Pauline’s calm, knowledgeable approach stood out from the start. Rashika’s yoga classes were a highlight for me, a mix of Hatha, flow and Yin that felt accessible and grounding.
There are also visiting teachers throughout the year, and Briony Fisher from Paradox Performance brought a different dimension to the experience. Her classes felt both empowering and uplifting, blending movement with mindset in a way that really stayed with me.

Yoga with a view
Yoga takes place on the Reefside Deck, a wooden platform above the sea. Early mornings there are something special. The light, the sound of the water, the breeze, it is a full sensory experience that shifts your mood before the day has even started.
Evenings are slower. One sunset session combining gentle movement and sound therapy was particularly memorable. It is hard to explain, but it felt very grounding, the kind of experience that stays with you.
There is plenty beyond yoga. The daily schedule includes everything from Pilates and Tai Chi to sailing, snorkelling and beach workouts. Some days we did a lot, other days very little. There is no pressure either way, which is part of the appeal.
Small changes that stay with you
Guests are also offered a complimentary Bodyscience consultation, which gives a useful snapshot of your overall health. Mine highlighted hydration, muscle mass and areas I could work on, but what stayed with me was what came next.
Pauline helped me rethink my strength training and put together a simple routine that felt realistic rather than overwhelming. She filmed it so I could take it home, which made a huge difference. It is the sort of thing you are far more likely to stick to when it has been shown to you properly.
That sense of practicality runs through the whole experience. It is not just about feeling good while you are there, it is about taking something away with you.

Easy, all-inclusive living
The all-inclusive element adds to that ease. Everything is covered, meals, activities, water sports and one 50-minute treatment daily, so you are not constantly thinking about cost or decisions.
Food is varied and relaxed. Breakfasts are generous, lunches can be taken on the beach on your lounger and evenings offer a mix of options. We particularly enjoyed Tao, but there is also something lovely about an unplanned afternoon tea or a long, easy lunch by the sea.
Dining never feels formal unless you want it to be. It fits around your day rather than dictating it.

The Temple of Calm
Set slightly above the beach, the spa at BodyHoliday feels like its own world. The walk up becomes part of the experience.
The space itself is beautifully designed. It is home to Pavitra, the island’s only Ayurvedic temple, alongside treatment rooms, a thalassotherapy pool, fitness and studio spaces, and quieter corners where you can simply sit and pause for a while and enjoy the beauty.
Having one 50-minute treatment daily changes how you approach your time. It becomes something you build your day around rather than an occasional extra it’ a moment just for you and was a highlight.
I tried a mix of treatments across the week, from facials to more restorative massages, and each one felt thoughtful and unhurried. Nothing felt rushed. The therapists are warm, intuitive and highly skilled, which makes a real difference to how relaxed you feel.
There is a balance here that is hard to replicate. You might spend the morning being active, whether that is yoga, swimming or a class, but by the afternoon you are completely still, properly switching off.
For me, this is what really sets BodyHoliday apart. It is not just about movement and activity, it is about recovery as well, and having that built into every day leaves you feeling genuinely restored by the end of the week.

Moments you don’t expect
Some moments stay with you more than others. For me, it was a whale watching trip. Seeing pilot whales surface beside the boat in open water was unexpectedly emotional. I found myself in tears, completely taken aback by how beautiful it was.
Back at the resort, it was often the simpler moments that stood out just as much. Lunch on the beach, a swim before breakfast, laughing through a class we had no intention of taking seriously.
The rooms are comfortable and well thought out, with everything you need. The housekeeping team keep everything running smoothly, often adding small touches that make a difference without ever feeling intrusive.
A place to return to
What struck me most was how many people return. I spoke to several guests who come back year after year, treating it as a reset.
I will definitely go back, next time with my daughters. We all like different things, but we all want to be active in some way, and this is where BodyHoliday really works. You can mix and match your days, do your own thing and still come together at the end of it but feel pampered and nurtured and cared for.
It is rare to find somewhere that manages that balance so well.
